SAN FRANCISCO —
Chris Paddack, more than two-thirds of the way to his innings total last season and likely about halfway to the total the Padres will allow him to pitch this year, was optioned to Single-A Lake Elsinore on Wednesday.
“We’ve talked all year long about understanding Chris had some limitations when it came pitching from the first day of the season to the last day of the season,” manager Andy Green said. “This is a good time to get some work done and get a little rest at the same time. We think it’s prudent to rest a little bit, work on some things, get a little bit better and come back here and attack the rest of the season.
