The Padres continued their streak of picking high schoolers with their first round pick in Sunday’s MLB Draft. Kash Mayfield out of Elk City High School in Oklahoma was the selection. According to The Oklahoman, he had a 0.16 ERA and 115 strikeouts in 44 innings this past season.
Mayfield was projected to be San Diego’s selection so this isn’t a shock but, according to experts, they are getting a strike thrower and the pitcher who has the smoothest delivery among all high schoolers in this draft class.
