Despite a rough second half that has all but assured a ninth straight losing season, the Padres are projecting around a 10 percent attendance increase in 2019 and are experiencing a similar bump in 2020 season ticket sales.
“The fact we have some players now like Fernando Tatis Jr., a long-term commitment to players like (Manny) Machado and (Eric) Hosmer, and we have (Chris) Paddack and others, the assumption is they’re going to be the same players you’re watching for many years,” said Erik Greupner, the Padres’ president of business operations. “… We’re seeing a corresponding increase in demand and commitment from ticket buyers.
