According to Dennis Lin of The Athletic, the Padres reached an agreement with shortstop Ha-Seong Kim of the KBO League on Monday afternoon.
The 25-year old Kim has been a budding star in Korea, slashing .306/.397/.523 with 30 home runs and 23 stolen bases this past season. He primarily has played shortstop, but he’ll likely see the majority of his time at second, although that depends on what the Friars want to do with the young stud in Jake Cronenworth. Per MLB Insider Joel Sherman of the New York Post, Cronenworth may be shifting out to left field in order to keep Kim has a mainstay in the lineup.
