The Padres on Monday re-acquired Colin Rea from Miami after the right-hander injured his throwing arm in his first start for the Marlins. In return, San Diego sent back pitching prospect Luis Castillo, who was part of the original, seven-player trade that shipped Rea across the country.
Rea and right-hander Andrew Cashner went to the Marlins on Friday in exchange for Castillo, first-base prospect Josh Naylor and right-handers Jarred Cosart and Carter Capps. Saturday, Rea made his Miami debut but left the game in the fourth inning with an elbow injury and was promptly placed on the 15-day disabled list.
