Drew Pomeranz and his wife, Carolyn, are San Diego residents for a second time.
But instead of daily trips to Petco Park, where he was to be pitching out of the Padres bullpen after signing as a free agent in November, he is throwing into a net in his backyard and dealing with this new reality like pretty much everyone else on the sideline.
“How I deal with baseball is I take it as it comes,” Pomeranz said. “So I’m trying to take this as it comes.”
He knows there are a number of people who can’t sit back and ride out the coronavirus pandemic.
