Padres open series with 7-2 loss to Cubs

The Cubs recorded five home runs, including two that went yard multiple times, en route to earning a 7-2 game one victory over the Padres on Sunday afternoon at Wrigley Field.

Fernando Tatis Jr. recorded his league-leading 16th home run of the year and scored both of the team’s runs but it wasn’t enough to overcome a rough start by Chris Paddack. The Sheriff was pulled during the fifth inning after letting up his third home run of the day. He finished with six strikeouts, five runs allowed, and one walk.

Chicago catcher Javy Baez and third baseman Patrick Wisdom each went yard twice while Kris Bryant recorded the team’s fifth deep shot in the fifth inning.
