DENVER —
Fernando Tatis Jr., the 20-year-old shortstop who has scored nine runs in seven starts since his return from the injured list, was not in the starting lineup Saturday.
The rest was planned well before Tatis went 3-for-6, scored two runs and drove in two more in Friday’s 16-12 comeback victory over the Rockies. The Padres stated from the time he was activated on June 6 that he would get a couple games off within the first week or so back after missing 34 games with a left hamstring strain.
“There’s nobody who wants to take him out of the lineup right now,” Padres manager Andy Green said Saturday.
