MILWAUKEE —
Catcher Luis Torrens’ previous stint in the major leagues was based solely on the potential the Padres saw in him.
This time is different.
“He knows this is something he’s earned,” Padres manager Andy Green said before Monday’s game against the Brewers. “He feels good about that, and he should.”
Torrens, who on Sunday was with Double-A Amarillo as the Sod Pooldes won the Texas League championship series, was recalled Monday and joined the Padres for the first time since he spent all of 2017 with them.
As a Rule 5 pick, he was required to be on the 25-man roster for a full season.
