Tommy Pham, the first known Padre to test positive for the coronavirus, has been cleared by Major League Baseball and will join his teammates on the field Friday at Petco Park. The news comes a day after he was released from quarantine, Padres manager Jayce Tingler said Friday afternoon, and seen signing autographs at Gallagher Square (formerly Park at the Park).
Among its protocols, Major League Baseball requires players who test positive to register two negative tests at least 24 hours apart. Tingler said he did not know the exact date of Pham’s second positive test but said his projected starting left fielder had been cleared by local doctors and officials.
