The Padres are 2-0 since Fernando Tatis Jr. returned from the injured list.
The 20-year-old went 4-for-6, walked twice, created two runs with his feet and hit a two-run homer in his first two games following a 34-day absence due to a strained left hamstring.
“We brought him back here to play meaningful, impactful games,” manager Andy Green said. “Because of his presence here, we have two wins instead of two losses. He was a huge part of both of those wins.”
So Tatis was not in the starting lineup Saturday against the Washington Nationals.
That’s because the goal is for him to be available to win a lot more games.
