The crowd roared. Teammates clapped and laughed. A “WOW” graphic danced around Petco Park’s video boards.
Fernando Tatis Jr. was safe again on a play that if it were in the movies would require some computer generated imagery or slow-motion trickery.
This time was unusual, though, in that it really meant nothing.
“First guy I’ve ever seen get a standing ovation for getting picked off,” Andy Green said after Sunday’s 4-1 loss to the Braves.
