Fernando Tatis Jr. will just have to go on another tear when he returns from the injured list.
The back spasms that caused the Padres’ rookie shortstop to leave Tuesday’s game and sit out Wednesday will land him on the 10-day injured list, a source said Wednesday.
The Padres hope the team leader in average (.317), on-base percentage (.379) and slugging percentage (.590) will be able to return after the minimum time down, though the “seven to 10 days” rest he is expected to need could mean he misses a little more time.
Tatis missed 34 games between the end of April and early June with a strained left hamstring.
