Joey Lucchesi, Cal Quantrill and Luis Patiño were all sitting on the bullpen bench at the start of Tuesday’s game.
Which of them — if any — will be on the mound for the start of Friday’s game remains a question.
“That will be determined with how these next couple days go,” Padres manager Jayce Tingler said Tuesday afternoon. “We’re not going to have anything truly set. … We’ll see how many innings we need, how many guys are used and where our health is at once we get done on Wednesday.”
A few minutes later, he was opening the door to the possibility of Patiño starting.
