SAN FRANCISCO —
Aggressive has given. Aggressive has taken away.
“Too aggressive sometimes,” Padres first base coach Wayne Kirby said Thursday.
The Padres lead the majors with eight stolen bases. The most recent of those, by Wil Myers, helped them to a run Wednesday.
But they have also been picked off at first base four times, including twice in Wednesday’s eighth inning by Giants left-hander Tyler Anderson.
“It’s a little give and take,” manager Jayce Tingler said. “… We’ve got to bear down there. We can’t be giving outs away, especially with the middle part of the order coming up.
