Padres notes: Renfroe hunting fastballs; Garcia’s milestone; Margot gets up

Hunter Renfroe hit his 27th home run on July 6 and was leading the majors with an average of one homer every 9.7 at-bats.

He is averaging one home run every 33.25 at-bats since that day and has not hit homered in his past 42 at-bats.

“Kind of between pitches right now, to be honest,” Renfroe said. “Body is a little tired. I’m getting close. I’m taking the right pitches, not chasing. You just can’t be in between. You’ve got to be on the fastball and stay on it.”

Renfroe on Tuesday reached 439 plate appearances, two away from last year’s total and 40 from his career high in 2017.
