Padres notes: Quantrill, Lauer can help cover open spot in rotation; Perdomo performing

DENVER —

The Padres might need a little help from Cal Quantrill and/or Eric Lauer over the next two days.

The team is already likely planning on using relievers to cover four or five innings here Sunday when rookie Nick Margevicius starts the series finale against the Rockies, and there is also an open spot in the rotation early next week since Chris Paddack is getting a rest in Single-A.

Manager Andy Green said Joey Lucchesi will make his next start on “regular rest,” which by the standard four days would mean he starts Monday against the Brewers.
