Padres notes: Prayers up after beleaguered bullpen comes through; Tatis stuns again

DENVER —

The Padres were already wondering what they were going to do to get through Tuesday’s game.

Andy Green was so desperate to give his bullpen a break, he left Nick Margevicius in to get battered around for four outs at the start of Sunday’s game.

Yes, that was what Green called giving Margevicius “some latitude.”

But by the time Margevicius had allowed his eighth run and surrendered his eighth it, Green had to make the call for Luis Perdomo.

Perdomo and five other relievers—including Phil Maton, who was called up Saturday, and Brad Wieck, who was called up Sunday, navigated the final 7 2/3 innings of Sunday’s 14-13 victory over the Rockies.
