Chris Paddack will make the 25th start of his rookie season on Wednesday against the Cubs.
It will be his third start since his worst start, an Aug. 23 game against the Red Sox in which he surrendered seven hits and six runs and lasted a season-low 2 1/3 innings. That followed a start in Philadelphia in which he allowed five runs on a career-high nine hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Those were two of his six starts that didn’t last at least five innings and the only time he did so in back-to-back outings.
He has allowed nine hits and one run in 12 1/3 innings in the two starts since, at San Francisco and Arizona, and has struck out eight batters in both games.
