PEORIA, Ariz. —
The Padres see Adrian Morejon as a starting pitcher, so he almost certainly will not be a major leaguer again at the start of this season.
But he is in big-league camp and will make his first start Thursday — his 21st birthday — against the Angels.
This comes after his stint in the Padres’ bullpen last summer was aborted in early August, after just five appearances. The shutdown was ostensibly due to recurring shoulder issues but was also done so the Padres could tweak his mechanics, with an emphasis on simplicity and consistency they hoped would enhance his health.
