Padres notes: Missing all the ways Fernando Tatis Jr. helped

LOS ANGELES —

The Padres are worse for not having Fernando Tatis Jr.

“It’s obvious we miss him,” manager Andy Green said. “He was our catalyst for a time here, and we expect him to be our catalyst for a lot more years.”

That latter sentiment helps explain why all sides are being cautious in the handling of the 20-year-old shortstop’s healing hamstring.

He is expected to be out at least until Monday. And since by many measures Tatis was their leading run producer when he strained his left hamstring on April 28, it might go without saying his absence has been felt.
