Catcher Francisco Mejia was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Monday and will start Tuesday’s game against the Brewers.
With Austin Hedges (who leads the majors in defensive runs saved) batting .185, there could be more playing time for Mejia now versus the start of the season.
That is, if Mejia can hit better than the .167 he did in 19 games before going on the injured list on May 11 due to a sprained knee — and more like the guy who hit .365 with a 1.157 OPS in 19 games in Triple-A.
“It will be dictated by performance,” Green said.
