Padres notes: Lauer gets save; Hedges rolls ankle on ball; Renfroe catches neck pain

Eric Lauer took the loss on Saturday but got a save.

His seven innings in a 4-1 loss to the Nationals gave the Padres bullpen the rest it needed to be at full strength for Sunday’s series finale against the Nationals.

Luis Perdomo, who threw 11 pitches Saturday night, will start Sunday afternoon’s “bullpen game” for the Padres. He is expected to be followed by any (and/or all) of the other relievers, as the Padres cover what is expected to be one missed start by Matt Strahm, who has a rib strain.

“He was huge for us today,” manager Andy Green said of Lauer.
