ST. LOUIS —
Ian Kinsler appreciates Andy Green sticking with him at the top of the Padres order.
“That’s where I want to be,” Kinsler said. “I want to be hitting in front of these guys. I want to set the table for these guys. I’m comfortable there.”
The 36-year-old has batted lead-off almost twice as many games as he has not in his 14-year major legue career, and his 183 home runs while hitting in that spot are third-most all-time behind Rickey Henderson and Alfonso Soriano.
He knows the good that can come with Eric Hosmer, Manny Machado, et al, coming to bat with him on base.
