Trent Grisham looks like he is barely taking batting practice. It’s as if he just woke up.
That couldn’t be further from the truth. But the way he pokes at balls, hardly swinging at some, did prompt Padres hitting coach Damion Easley to ask Grisham about the process when they first started working together.
“He realized high-volume, high-effort swings, while he can dominate batting practice like that, it didn’t transfer to the game,” Easley said. “So he stopped worrying about that and was more about controlling himself, controlling that hit, and that transferred to the game.
