DENVER —
Aspiring ballplayers would do well to watch and listen to Jake Cronenworth.
It should be easy to relate. The rookie’s fresh face would not look out of place on a U-16 travel squad.
Cronenworth on Sunday made his second start in the major leagues and tripled in two at-bats, his second triple among four hits in 10 at-bats. Both starts have been at first base, a position he played once in the minor leagues (2018 in Double-A) but has been compelled to play as one of the Padres’ fill-ins while Eric Hosmer sits out with gastritis.
