There will be different reasons each day that compel Padres manager Andy Green to shuffle his outfield.
Friday’s starters against the Cardinals, left to right, are Wil Myers, Franchy Cordero and Franmil Reyes.
Green deciding on his fifth version in eight games was due to the fact Cordero has been a tough out. Neither his .273 batting average nor his .385 on-base percentage lead the Padres, but his 17.4 percent chase rate does by a wide margin.
“Really love the at-bats Franchy has put together,” Green said. “Even the strikeouts are borderline pitches or pitches just off the plate.
