Padres pitcher Jacob Nix “was too intoxicated” to explain why he attempted to enter a home near the team’s spring training complex in Peoria, Ariz., through a doggy door shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday, according to the arrest report.
Nix, 23, is facing two counts of criminal trespassing. He has a preliminary court hearing scheduled for Oct. 16.
Tom Cosgrove, a minor league pitcher in the Padres system, was also arrested, but it was not clear if he was charged.
According to the report provided by the Peoria Police Department, Cosgrove told police that he and Nix had been drinking in Scottsdale when they decided to split a Uber back to Nix’s residence.
