Injuries have forced the San Diego Padres to shuffle their roster. The minor league call-ups have done a terrific job of contributing and keeping the team atop the National League West division chase.
The Padres are dealing with a host of injuries to the lineup. Jackson Merrill, Brandon Lockridge, Luis Arraez, and Jason Heyward are all on the injury list. The result is the Friars digging deep on the 40-man roster for replacements.
Heading into spring training, the Padres roster depth was an issue. Team president of baseball operations and general manager A.J. Preller signed several players to minor league contracts in preparation for every possible scenario.
