Blake Snell went out and fanned eight batters for the second-straight start, but allowed a two-run homer in the second which wound up being the difference in the Padres’ 3-2 loss to the Giants on Wednesday afternoon.
Snell worked five innings, allowing a pair of hits and walking four along with his eight Ks. 29-year old Taylor Williams followed him and struck out two. Ryan Weathers, Drew Pomeranz, Mark Melancon, and Tim Hill all struck out one in their lone innings.
The Friar were very much subdued all day long. Aside from Wil Myers’ game-tying solo home run in the eighth, there wasn’t much else of note.
