The San Diego Padres and free agent pitcher Nick Pivetta agreed to a four-year $55 million deal Wednesday. The deal has not been confirmed by the team.

Pivetta is the first big name signing of a long offseason for the Padres. He immediately slots into the starting rotation, giving San Diego a starting four of Darvish, Cease, King and Pivetta.
General Manager A.J. Preller stated at Padres FanFest that he needed to sign a couple bats and a couple arms.
