The San Diego Padres have been much quieter this time around regarding their manager search but a couple new tidbits have come out. Mike Schildt, the recently fired St. Louis Cardinals manager, interviewed with the club on Sunday after A.J. Preller and the front office spoke with former Mets skipper Luis Rojas.
Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reported the news on Monday:
The Schildt interview was known already but it’s interesting that Rojas was on San Diego’s list. He lasted only two seasons as the Mets manager and it didn’t seem like he dealt with the media all that well, granted he was dealing with the toughest sports media market in the country.
