Turns out, Hunter Renfroe and Dinelson Lamet may have some say about next year’s payday.
Both Padres were among nearly two dozen MLB players who made the two-year, 115-day cutoff for salary arbitration eligibility for the 2020 season, earning so-called Super 2 status — which could add about $4 million to the club’s payroll.
By way of baseball’s collective bargaining agreement, the top 22 percent of players with at least two years of service time, but fewer than three, received salary arbitration so long as they garnered at least 86 days in the majors this year.
This year’s cutoff was down from two years, 134 days last offseason.
