Darrin Jackson has spent the last two decades as a broadcaster for the Chicago White Sox. Before that, he roamed a Chicago outfield for half his 12-year playing career, but his most productive days were for the cash-strapped team in San Diego.
Primarily a center fielder, Jackson hit 44 of his 80 big league home runs over parts of four years with the Padres, including two on this date — April 28 — in 1992. The last, off Phillies reliever Curt Schilling, was a walk-off blast in the bottom of the ninth of a 7-6 win at Jack Murphy Stadium.
