It was a simple request from Carlos Quentin a day before Major League Baseball announced an eight-game suspension on April 12, 2013. A 240-pound outfielder who’d also been a gridiron star at San Diego’s University High, Quentin charged the mound after Dodgers ace Zack Greinke hit him on his left arm with a full-count fastball with the Dodgers leading by one in the sixth inning. Quentin had been hit by an MLB-leading 97 pitches since 2008, including two previous occasions by Greinke.
“Myself and Greinke have a history,” Quentin told reporters after the game.
