Padres give scouting department a makeover

SAN DIEGO -- The Padres have made a handful of changes to their professional and amateur scouting departments.

Logan White, who was hired last offseason from the Dodgers to be the team's senior advisor to general manager A.J. Preller and run the team's pro scouting department, will devote his entire focus to his senior advising duties.

Pete DeYoung, formerly the team's West Coast regional scouting supervisor, is the team's director of professional scouting.

Replacing DeYoung is Josh Emmerick, who was formerly the Padres' area scout in Southern California, Nevada and Hawaii. Emmerick signed current Padres catcher Austin Hedges in 2011, among other players.
