The Padres have finalized 2020 salary terms for 25 pre-arbitrations players, which includes renewing reliever Emilio Pagan’s contract after the two sides could not agree to a deal.
Pagan will earn $591,000, up from the $562,700 that he earned while saving 20 games for the Tampa Rays. The 28-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA from 4.35 in 2018 to 2.31 while striking out 96 over 70 innings in his third stint in the majors.
Pagan, who was acquired just before camp opened for Manuel Margot and minor league catcher Logan Driscoll, will be arbitration-eligible after this season.
The Padres also announced they had agreed to one-year deals for 24 pre-arbitration eligible players.
