The San Diego Padres have a pitching award winner vying for a starter’s role in camp this spring. No Cy Young winner, but left-handed starting pitcher Kyle Hart is the reigning Choi Dong-won Award winner and has an opportunity to win the fifth starter role in the Padres rotation.
Hart has not had much success in the majors. He went 0-1 with a 15.55 ERA in three starts with the 2020 Boston Red Sox. After floundering in the Philadelphia Phillies and Seattle Mariners organizations, Hart took his talents abroad to play for the NC Dinos in the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO).
