The Padres have been waiting for this day for a long time.
So what’s one more day before making it official.
All that is left is to make sure Dinelson Lamet feels as good the day after his bullpen session Monday as he looked during it.
“It was awesome,” pitching coach Darren Balsley said.
If all goes as expected, Lamet will make his first start of the season during the Padres’ four-game series at Dodger Stadium that begins Thursday.
The only question appears to be which day. Eric Lauer, Chris Paddack and Joey Lucchesi are the other pitchers slated to start against the Dodgers in the final series before the All-Star break.
