A year after seemingly distancing the organization from controversial sports talk host Dan Sileo, the Padres on Friday announced they would make members of their front office and field staff available for weekly interviews on his morning show, which airs on their flagship radio station.
“We have a partnership with Entercom and 97.3 The Fan,” a Padres spokesman said. “We have supported our current and previous radio partners with weekly content before and that is what was announced today.”
The Union-Tribune reported in January 2018 that the Padres had been “assured” that Sileo — who has been beleaguered by claims of racism, sexism and anti-Semitism in his past — would not be involved in the game broadcasts or pregame and postgame shows as he moved from The Mighty 1090 to Entercom, which holds the team’s radio rights through 2021.
