CHICAGO —
The Padres planned for a couple months to bring up Adrian Morejon early in the season’s second half.
He is in Chicago on Saturday, the second 20-year-old pitcher in eight days to be recalled by the Padres, because they need to start priming the hard-throwing left-hander for some important innings.
It might not happen right away, as the preference is to let a young pitcher somewhat ease into high-leverage situations. But the belief/hope is Morejon will soon be coming in with games on the line.
That doesn’t mean Craig Stammen won’t be. It just can’t always be Stammen.
