MIAMI — The Padres will leave Marlins Park this weekend carrying even more local flavor than they brought.
The visitors added to their silo of ex-Miami players Saturday, claiming outfielder Oswaldo Arcia off waivers. The former top-100 prospect's itinerant season found him immediately in the lineup, starting in right and batting sixth for the last-place Padres, who've spent the season's second half auditioning a slew of unproven players.
Outfielder Patrick Kivlehan, meanwhile, went from homering in his major league debut last weekend to being optioned back to Triple-A El Paso. The Padres also transferred outfielder Jon Jay to the 60-day disabled list, a clerical move that has no bearing on the veteran's anticipated return next month.
