PEORIA, Ariz. —
Chris Paddack’s first start was Sunday.
What he actually threw were 20 pitches in a live batting practice that wasn’t all that live.
But to Paddack, it might as well have been the opening day start he is intent on earning.
“Being a starter, we have to be very disciplined with our spring training,” Paddack said. “I’m a big believer in that, because we get to use these 40 days here in spring to get our bodies used to the everyday routine. Every day on the field, that’s something you can’t train for in the offseason.
