Padres’ “Baltimore boys” impress on opening day

The San Diego Padres beat the Atlanta Braves 7-4 on Opening Day at Petco Park. With Michael King struggling with his command, the bullpen and offense came through. They rallied from behind, something Padres fans got used to last season. A continuation of the energy, passion, and aggressiveness of last year’s team was in evidence again to start 2025.

The Gavin Sheets pinch-hit home run, the five combined stolen bases, and the situational hitting along with a dominant bullpen secured the win. It was an electric environment at a sold-out Petco Park with 45,568 Padres fans giving the team the largest opening day crowd in Petco Park history.
