Allen Craig finished 19th in NL MVP voting in his first full year in the majors, was an All-Star the following season and spent parts of six years in the majors. His opportunity with the Padres did not lead to a return to the majors but the 34-year-old Temecula resident is excited about the path following the proverbial fork in the road: A job in the Padres’ front office.
Released midway through camp this spring, Craig has signed as an advisor to baseball operations. In that capacity, Craig will travel to all the Padres’ affiliates – including the short drive to Lake Elsinore – in hopes of soaking up as much as he can as he begins the next phase of his career.
