A.J. Preller has made his first move of deadline season. Reliever Jason Adam is headed to San Diego for a significant prospect package that includes Dylan Lesko, J.D. Gonzalez and Homer Bush Jr.
The Padres were searching for a right-handed reliever and they got one that can fit right in with the other high leverage arms in the ‘pen: Robert Suarez, Jeremiah Estrada and Adrian Morejon.
Adam has posted a sub-3 ERA in each of the last three seasons, posting a 2.49 ERA and 0.894 WHIP so far in 2024 (47 appearances).

Lesko was the Padres first round pick in 2022 and was once looked at as a possible frontline starter down the road at Petco Park but it wasn’t going to happen any time soon.
