It was a good day for firsts as the Padres take the win in the second of their two games against the Mariners. Vedder cup victory has been secured, and Luis Urías started showing off what else he could do.
For the second time in a row Padres pitching was on fire. Despite being doinked in the dong, Joey Lucchesi went 6.2 innings and had 9 strikeouts, allowing just a single run, two walks, and six hits. The bullpen sans Colten Brewer also shut things down, pinning the Mariners to just 3 runs for the day.
