Padres 3, Mets 6: Weird calls, Lauer bombs

Three-run first innings for the opposition rarely result in anything good. In today’s game, it resulted in a Padres loss. Eric Lauer and company couldn’t deal with Zack Wheeler and Carlos Asuaje was victimized by messy officiating. Regardless, the Padres couldn’t muster a sizable Mets lead.

Lauer was thoroughly shelled in just 4 innings of play, allowing 6 hits and 6 earned runs, striking out 5 but giving up 3 walks and a homer. He gave up three-run RBI in the first inning, a two-run home run in the third, and an RBI-single in the fourth.
