Friday may have only been two days ago, but for the Padres, it might as well have been three years ago. Eric Lauer picked up his first big league win by shutting down the Dodgers for six innings, and his equally lights-out bullpen had his back. Eric was the name of the day, as Eric Hosmer stayed hot with a two-run bomb off Tony Cingrani.
Hosmer’s shot was the first scoring play of the day, but not the last. Travis Jankowski led off the seventh with his second triple in two days, and Franchy Cordero brought him home with a line drive single to left.
