While his first appearance on the Padres 40-man roster was on November 20 of 2019, Jorge Ona made his official debut for the Padres on September 7th of the 2020 season against the Colorado Rockies.
Ona spent the 2017-2019 seasons, Ona spent time with the Fort Wayne TinCaps (‘17), Lake Elsinore Storm (‘18), and the Amarillo Sod Poodles (‘19). In his lone season with the TinCaps, Ona was named a mid-season All-Star. In 25 games with Amarillo, Ona slashed .348/.417/.583 with an OPS of .983.
At 6’0 and 235 pounds, Ona is stoutly built with surprising athleticism for his size.
